William Joseph King Jr.,

Age 85, of Cincinnati, passed away of natural causes Thursday evening, August 8, 2024, at The Residents at Salem Woods in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He was born May 20, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late William Sr. & Pauline (Wykie) King.  On November 3, 1979, at Annunciation Church in Cincinnati, Bill married Barbara Ann (Quinlin) King who preceded him in death on September 15, 2022.  Surviving are three siblings: Joyce Wells of Batavia, Bruce King of Williamsburg and Paula King of Lewis Center as well as sisters & brother’s in-law: Sheila Quinlin of Fort Loramie and Mary Kathryn & James “Red” Mescher of Fort Loramie along with numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Larry King and sisters & brothers-in-law: Nancy King, Thomas & LaDonna Quinlin and James & Dorothy Quinlin.

Mr. King served in the US Army and reenlisted into the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam era.  He later obtained welder certification at the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology in Troy.  Years ago, Bill had been an active volunteer at the “Love Sharing” food pantry and thrift store in Cheviot.  He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and was an avid reader, especially regarding American war history.

William’s remains will be laid to rest at St. Michael Cemetery in Fort Loramie, Ohio.  A memorial gathering of family and friends will take place at a later date.  Private condolences may be expressed at the gehretfuneralhome.com website.
