Matthew A. Holscher

March 7, 1961 - April 10, 2025

Matthew Anthony Holscher,

Age 64, of Walzer Road, Russia, Ohio, passed away peacefully of natural causes at his residence Thursday afternoon, April 10, 2025.  He was born March 7, 1961, in Sidney, Ohio, to the late Raymond & Pauline “Tootie” (Marchal) Holscher.  Surviving are four children: Jason & Amber Holscher of Covington, Justin & Chasity Holscher of Houston, Jordan Holscher of Troy and Amber & Chris Davis of Houston; eight grandchildren: Dameon, Marissa, Grace and Ashley Holscher, Claireece and Joslynn Holscher, Raylynn and Beau Davis; five of six siblings: Mark & Deb Holscher of Fort Loramie, Martha Holscher of Fort Loramie, Michael “Rayme” Holscher (dec.), Morris Holscher of Minster, Marvin & Teresa Holscher of Fort Loramie and Marla & Stanley (dec.) Grieshop of Covington along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Holscher was a 1979 graduate of both, Fort Loramie High School and the Upper Valley JVS.  He had been a diversified mechanic all of his working life.  He worked with automotive, diesel and heavy equipment.  Over the years, he worked for Hickory Hills (30 Years), Apple Farm Service, Jim Grilliot’s Plumbing, Grilliot’s Garage and also drove trucks for Schafer Dairy Farms.  Matt was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church in Russia.  He enjoyed tinkering, building puzzles, keeping muscle cars running good, small farming and especially, operating heavy equipment.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at St. Remy Catholic Church in Russia with Rev. James Reutter presiding.  Interment will follow at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Newport.  Family and friends may call Tuesday, 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday 9:00 to 9:45 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.  Memorials may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice or The American Heart Association.  Private condolences may be expressed at the gehretfuneralhome.com website.
