Mary Ann (Broering) Gehret Grieshop,

Age 88, formerly of Julian Road, Versailles, passed away peacefully of natural causes Thursday morning, November 14, 2024, at The Gardens of St. Henry in St. Henry, Ohio.  She was born on June 4, 1936, in Cranberry Prairie, Ohio, to the late Lawrence & Stella (Kaiser) Broering.  On July 30, 1955, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Cranberry Prairie, Mary Ann married Vernon Gehret who preceded her in death on November 26, 1967.  On June 4, 1969, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, she married Louis Grieshop who survives.

Also surviving of the Gehret and Grieshop union are 16 of 18 children: Ann & LeRoy DeMange of Yorkshire, Tom Gehret of New Bremen, Jane & Steve Selhorst of North Star, Mike Gehret (dec.), Larry & Mary Lou Gehret of Sidney, Dennis Gehret (dec.), Bob (dec.) & Patty Gehret of Versailles, Carla & Roger Hartings of Maria Stein, Ted & Kellie Gehret of Minster, Gene & Kathy Grieshop of Versailles, Jim Grieshop of Portland, IN, Larry & Ellen Grieshop of Versailles, Joyce Albers-Frantz & Don Frantz of Fort Recovery, Linda Osterloh-Dircksen & Ed Dircksen of Minster, Mike & Nancy Grieshop of Versailles, Patty & John Schulze of Fort Loramie, Lisa & Andy Paulus of Bradford and Susan & Tony Kramer of Osgood; 68 of 70 grandchildren, Jason Grieshop and Hannah Gehret (both dec.) along with 117 surviving great-grandchildren; five siblings: Paul & Karen Broering of St. Henry, Luke & Barbara Broering of St. Henry, Robert & Betty Broering of St. Henry, Jean & Orville Borgert of Sidney and Walter & Shirley Broering of St. Henry as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-law: Janice Broering of Coldwater, Dennis & Sharon Ontrop of Fort Recovery, Frances Gehret of New Bremen, Paul Gehret of St. Henry, Irene Gehret of Frenchtown, Dennis Heitkamp of New Bremen, Eva Gehret of Willowdell, Edward & Mary Lee Gehret of Willowdell, Madonna Gehret of Versailles, Mary Ann & John Kuether of Egypt, Betty Lange of St. Henry, Mary Ann & Carl Pohl of Maria Stein, Linus & Jane Grieshop of Minster, Ed Schroeder of Anna, Bob & Judy Grieshop of Yorkshire, Frank & Jean Grieshop of Russia, Jerry & Donna Grieshop of Yorkshire, Florence Wenning of Springboro, Jane & Nick Varney of Homer, AK, and Nancy Grieshop of Kettering along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two son-in-law’s, Ron Albers and Bernie Osterloh; four siblings: Irene & George Speelman, Elmer & Barbara Broering, Don Broering and Esther Ontrop as well as several sisters and brothers-in-law: Nancy Broering, Mildred & Virgil Bensman, Lawrence, Alfred & Rose, Bernice and Urban Gehret, Rita Heitkamp, Joseph, Anthony and Cyril & Margie Gehret, Fritz Lange, Albert Grieshop, Martha Schroeder and Robert Wenning.

Mary was a 1954 Graduate of St. Henry High School and a devoted member of St. Denis Catholic Church.  She was a dedicated homemaker and farm wife.  Years ago, she also worked in Environmental Services at the Versailles Healthcare Center and had been an Amway consultant.  Mary was lovingly dedicated to her husband and family.  She didn’t care to be the center of attention, yet upheld a positive and optimistic attitude among all of the ups and downs that come with the blessings of large family life.  Her faith was her supporting foundation and her talents brought her pleasure.  Seamstressing, gardening, canning, cooking from scratch and baking bread are just a few of the gifts she shared with her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Monday, November 18, 2024, at St. Denis Church in Versailles with Rev. Ned Brown presiding.  Interment will follow at St. Valbert Cemetery.  Family and friends may call Sunday, 2:00 to 7:00 PM and Monday 8:30 to 9:30 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.  Memorials may be made to EWTN or Everheart Hospice.  Private condolences may be expressed at the gehretfuneralhome.com website.
