Joan I. (Otting) Siegel,

Age 76, of S. Main Street, Fort Loramie, passed away of natural causes Monday evening, July 1, 2024, at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.  She was born January 3, 1948, in Piqua, Ohio, to the late Mary J. Francis and Clarence “Pete” Otting.  On May 11, 1968, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster, Joan married Robert J. “Buck” Siegel who preceded her in death on November 11, 2016.  Surviving are three children, Robert L. & Gail (Stockman) Siegel, Julie & Keith Stricker and Shiela Poeppelman, all of Fort Loramie; 13 “baker’s dozen” grandchildren: Robert A. “Gus” & Claire Siegel, Maxine, Conrad, Vivian, Lucy, Eleanor, Oscar, and Evelyn Siegel, Rebecka & Zack Garrett, Lydia Stricker & fiancé Gregory Goubeaux, Alana Stricker, Lance and Alex Poeppelman along with two great-grandchildren, Emmylou and Robert “Otto” Siegel; several sisters & brothers-in-law: Velma & Rufus Pridemore of Sidney, Don Puthoff of Fort Loramie, Kenny Pleiman of Fort Loramie and John & Kathy Siegel of Fort Loramie as well as numerous nieces & nephews.  She was preceded in death by three grandchildren: Christian Stricker, Amos Siegel and Elizabeth Siegel; one brother, William Otting and brothers & sisters-in-law: Kenny Cordonnier, Phylis Puthoff, Jackie & Leon DeLoye and Linda Pleiman.

Joan was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.  In 2009, she retired from Wilson Health Hospital where she had been a patient care technician for 39 years.  Joan enjoyed garage saling, traveling and following her grandchildren’s school activities.  She especially enjoyed musical events.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Monday, July 8, 2024, at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Steven Shoup and Deacon Paul Timmerman presiding.  Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.  Family and friends may call Sunday, 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Monday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.  Memorials may be made to the Fort Loramie Music Boosters or charities of choice.  Private condolences may be expressed at the gehretfuneralhome.com website.
