Clara Louise (Lauth) Smith,
Age 87, formerly of Eilerman Road, Minster, passed away of natural causes late Wednesday evening, May 19, 2021, at the Heritage Manor Nursing & Rehab Center in Minster, Ohio. She was born March 12, 1934, in Spencerville, Ohio, to the late Willard & Ruth (May) Lauth. On July 2, 1960, at First Presbyterian Church in St. Marys, Clara married Floyd Smith who preceded her in death on August 2, 2010. Surviving are four children: Lisa & Fred Schillinger of Gambier, Bill & Linda Smith of Minster, Mike Smith of Anna and Dan & Linda Smith of Spencerville; six grandchildren: Jennifer Norris, John & Brandi Schillinger, Krystine & Logan Awwiller, Ryan Smith & Christine Daley, Nicole Smith & fiancé Ryan Albers and Eddie Smith; five step-grandchildren: Andy, Doug, and Ben Horstman, Joe Harrod and Seth Latimer; eight great-grandchildren: Rex Norris, Michael, Makala and Maddie Horstman, John, Addison and Eleanor Schillinger and Theodore Awwiller; two brothers, Richard Barnett of Lima and Ray Lauth of Wapakoneta as well as a sister-in-law, Roxanne Lauth of Spencerville along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother Roy Lauth; sisters & brothers-in-law: Dorothy Barnett, Sharon Lauth, Dorothy & Norval Moyer, Gladys Smith, Jennie Scheer and James Smith.
Clara was a 1952 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and had been a dedicated homemaker. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed crossword puzzles, listening to country music, taking walks with family and friends as well as cooking for family and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie with Pastor Scott Johnson presiding. Interment will follow at Houston Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Heritage Center activity department or charities of choice.
